Starting in 1984, the MTV channel gave life to awards that would become part of musical culture: the MTV Video Music Awards, also known as MTV VMAs, which, year after year, have been in charge of awarding awards to the best music videos. Bands and artists such as The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Katy Perry or U2, have been recognized in these awards.
In addition to their original version, these awards have spread around the world, which has given life to the MTV Latin America Awards, the MTV Australia Video Music Awards, or the MTV Video Music Awards Japan.
Throughout their history, MTV VMAs have been known for bringing controversial and memorable moments to life. In 2003, Madonna performed with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage in a musical act, performing her songs Like a Virgin and Hollywood. In this show, there was a moment that went down in history after Madonna kissed Britney and Christina, which happened in front of singer Justin Timberlake, who was Britney's boyfriend at the time.
