Starting in 1984, the MTV channel gave life to awards that would become part of musical culture: the MTV Video Music Awards, also known as MTV VMAs, which, year after year, have been in charge of awarding awards to the best music videos. Bands and artists such as The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Katy Perry or U2, have been recognized in these awards.

In addition to their original version, these awards have spread around the world, which has given life to the MTV Latin America Awards, the MTV Australia Video Music Awards, or the MTV Video Music Awards Japan.
