• 'Young Sheldon' is coming to an end
  • The spinoff series will be closing out next year
  • THESE are the details we know

With the upcoming Season 7, the show and its cast gets ready to bid the audience farewell. And so, get ready to mark your calendars for February 15th, because that's when the one-hour series finale extravaganza is set to hit your screens, culminating on May 16th.

There will be surprises

The final season comes with a twist in that it's shorter than the rest, folks! Blame the dramatic writer and actor strikes that brought Hollywood to its knees for nearly half a year. But fear not, the "Cooper" family is ready to go out with a bang! Amy Reisenbach, the big boss at CBS Entertainment, couldn't hide her pride.

"‘Young Sheldon’ proved lightning can strike twice," she exclaimed. With a cast that became an instant family and stories that tugged at our heartstrings, it's no wonder the show reeled in a whopping 11 million viewers per episode!

The masterminds behind the "Cooper" charm, executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, and Steve Holland, are tipping their hats to fans.

"Being able to tell the origin of Sheldon Cooper...has been a wonderful experience," they shared. And let's not forget the stellar cast that brought the Coopers to life, including Iain Armitage as Sheldon and Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper, with Jim Parsons, the original Sheldon, lending his voice as the narrator.

The end had to come eventually

It was an unexpected success story as prequels rarely do well! The show is a prequel spinoff to mega-hit show 'The Big Bang Theory,' which ran on CBS from 2007 to 2019.

That show introduced viewers to Sheldon Cooper, portrayed by Jim Parsons, an incredibly brilliant but socially awkward physicist who sees the world somewhat differently from those around him – to often hilarious effect.

In the spinoff, "Sheldon’s" childhood and early family life is explored, with Iain Armitage taking on the titular role. Between the two series, next season’s conclusion of 'Young Sheldon' means the beloved character will have been on the air for 17 years.
