The 'Dynasty' Cast: Then And Now

The American television series Dynasty ran from 1981 to 1989 on ABC. The main focus of the show was the power struggle between the two oil companies "Denver Carrington" and "Colbyco," and, on the other hand, the intrigue and problems of the characters. "Alexis Colby" wants to win back her ex-husband "Blake Carrington" by all means, but he already has already a new wife, the young "Krystle Jennings".

The series enjoyed great popularity and received several awards, including four Golden Globes. Towards the end of the eighties, the ratings declined significantly, which is why the series was cancelled after the ninth season. But where is the cast now?

Joan Collins as "Alexis," John Forsythe as "Blake," and Linda Evans  as"Krystle" were the three protagonists. Collins and Forsythe were allegedly paid up to $100,000 per episode during the final seasons. Dynasty put them on the map and helped the three actors become international stars.

Joan Collins plays the unpredictable and devious "Alexis Colby," who tries to win back her ex-husband "Blake". After her attempts fail, she devotes all her energy to getting back at him. She marries "Cecil Colby" on his deathbed to gain control of his family's oil company "Colbyco" and tries to ruin "Blake" and his rival company in the process.

Joan Collins is now 86 years old and one of the biggest divas in Hollywood. She appeared in over 50 films and series and was regarded as THE female TV star of the eighties. After the series ended, she earned her money mainly with her novels, biographies and as a beauty consultant...She sporadically appears on TV, even today.

"Blake Carrington" is the Managing Director of the oil company "Denver-Carrington". He marries the young "Krystle" at the beginning of season one— before her, he was married to "Alexis". His character goes through some great changes over the course of the show. Initially, he is a ruthless businessman, but over time, he becomes a benevolent patriarch. Fun fact: "Blake Carrington" is the only character who appears in every single episode of Dynasty.

His career as an actor began in 1943. Since then, he's starred in countless films and series. The character of "Blake" in all nine seasons of Dynasty remains the one he is always remembered for. What many don't know: John Forsythe played the role of "Charlie Townsend" in the Charlie's Angels movies. However, he'd only lent his voice to this character and was never seen. The actor died on April 1, 2010, at the age of 92.

She plays the role of the "Krystle Carrington," who is not welcomed with open arms into the "Carrington" household at the beginning of the first season. In the final season, "Krystle" undergoes a complicated surgery and then falls into a coma.

John James plays the role of "Jeffrey Colby," who marries "Fallon," the daughter of his family's nemesis, "Blake Carrington," in season one. During the third season, they get divorced but after some time apart, they want to remarry. It does not come to that, because "Fallon" disappears off the face of the earth for a year. They eventually get married again in season six and, for a second time, get divorced in season eight.

After the end of Dynasty, John James kept working as an actor. Among others, he appeared on All My Children and As The World Turns. He has been married to his wife Denise Ellen Coward since 1989, and they have two children.
