In the heart of Greenwich Village, New York, the building that became famous as "Carrie Bradshaw's" apartment in 'Sex and the City' has long been a magnet for fans. Now, the owner, Barbara Lorber, has secured permission to install a gate to protect residents from the constant influx of tourists.

Located in the Greenwich Village Historic District, the building’s exterior served as Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. Lorber, who purchased the property in 1978, petitioned the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, explaining that despite a "Private Property - No Trespassing" sign, the building had become a "global tourist destination," causing significant disruption to local residents.

After more than two decades of hoping the interest would fade, Lorber decided to act. "After 20-plus years of hoping the fascination with my stoop would die away and fans would find a new object for their devotion, I have acknowledged we need something more substantial," she said. Lorber described disruptive behavior, including tourists climbing over chains, dancing, or ringing doorbells late at night. Now, the addition of a gate will provide much-needed relief for the building's residents.
