Prince Harry is reportedly preparing to return to Britain with Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet for the first time in four years, and the trip is already raising fresh questions inside royal circles. According to Page Six, the visit is tied to a week of “Year to Go” appearances ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. The biggest point of interest is not the public schedule, but whether the Sussex family will have private time with King Charles during the visit.
Prince Harry Plans UK Trip With Meghan Markle
The duke’s return comes after a long dispute over security arrangements in Britain, an issue that has weighed heavily on his relationship with the royal household. Even so, there is strong interest in a possible family meeting. Charles is said to be especially keen to spend time with Archie and Lilibet, having seen them only rarely in person. Any reunion, if it happens, is expected to take place quietly and away from cameras, with privacy likely treated as a top priority by both sides.
Hugo Vickers Says Charles Would Not Refuse Meghan
Royal biographer Hugo Vickers argued that the monarch would not shut Meghan out, despite years of public tension. “I am sure he will see the children,” said Hugo Vickers according to Page Six. He also stressed that Charles has kept communication open with Harry and would not benefit from making the divide deeper. Vickers added that refusing to see Meghan would only worsen an already strained situation, especially at a time when the family is under pressure to lower tensions rather than add to them.
King Charles Balances Cancer Battle and Royal Duties
The timing of the trip may work in Harry’s favor. Charles is still expected to carry out Holyrood Week in Scotland before the July Invictus-related appearances, and Vickers said the king does not usually alter his plans because “he’s a busy man.” Harry has already spoken publicly about wanting peace with his family while his father continues cancer treatment. “I would love reconciliation with my family. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” Prince Harry told the BBC in May 2025.
Prince William Meeting Still Appears Unlikely
While a father-son meeting looks possible, a reunion with Prince William appears far less likely. The brothers’ estrangement has stretched on for years, and there is little sign that this trip will change that. As reported by Page Six, some palace figures are also wary that any contact with the Sussexes could quickly become part of a bigger public narrative. The last time the family was together in Britain was during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, when Lilibet met her great-grandmother at Windsor Castle.
