Alleged Incidents During Family Vacation
The allegations against Duggar stem from a 2020 family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida. A 14-year-old girl reported the incidents, which allegedly occurred when she was just nine years old. According to the report, Duggar repeatedly asked the girl to sit on his lap and later manipulated her underwear while they were covered with a blanket. The girl disclosed these details during a forensic interview, leading to Duggar's arrest. "The victim stated Duggar eventually apologized for his actions and the incidents stopped after the apology," the release noted.
Legal Proceedings and Community Response
The girl's father confronted Duggar, who admitted his actions to both the father and Tontitown detectives. The Tontitown Police Department received a warrant from Bay County for Duggar's arrest, emphasizing their commitment to handling the case with professionalism and compassion. "The Tontitown Police Department wants the community to know that this matter is being handled with the highest level of professionalism, compassion, and diligence," stated the department's release.
Duggar Family's Ongoing Legal Troubles
This case is the latest in a series of legal issues for the Duggar family. The reality show '19 Kids and Counting' was canceled in 2015 after it was revealed that Josh Duggar, Joseph's brother, had molested four of his sisters. Josh Duggar was later convicted of possessing child pornography and sentenced to 12½ years in federal prison. He is currently appealing his conviction, with a new motion filed by Chicago lawyer Beau B. Brindley, known for representing singer R. Kelly.
