In a powerful move that intertwines music with a poignant message, Barbra Streisand has recorded a new track, "Love Will Survive," for the Peacock series 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz.' This marks her first musical contribution to a television series, spotlighting her commitment to remembering the Holocaust and combating the surge in antisemitism. With music composed by Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer, this song promises to be a beacon of love and resilience.

Barbra's gift to the world

In an era where the shadows of history loom large over the present, Barbra Streisand, the legendary singer and actress, steps into the light with a song that aims to heal and remember.

"Love Will Survive," recorded for the upcoming Peacock series 'The Tattooist of Auschwitz,' is more than just a track; it's a statement, a reminder of the six million lives lost during the Holocaust, and a testament to the enduring power of love.

Streisand, moved by the current rise in antisemitism, found resonance with the series' theme and its historical significance. "Because of the rise in antisemitism around the world today, I wanted to sing ‘Love Will Survive’ in the context of this series, as a way of remembering the six-million souls who were lost less than 80 years ago," Streisand expressed. Her voice, combined with the emotional depth of the song, aims to shine a light on the darkest of times.

The song, a collaborative masterpiece, features the musical genius of Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Walter Afanasieff. The London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by William Ross, accompanies Streisand, adding a majestic aura to the track. This collaboration underscores the significance of the message being conveyed - that love, indeed, survives.

'The Tattooist of Auschwitz,' set to premiere on May 2 on Peacock, is based on the novel by Heather Morris. It narrates the harrowing yet hopeful story of a Slovakian Jewish man who, while interred at Auschwitz, falls in love. This series, and Streisand's song, serve as a reminder of humanity's capacity for love and resilience in the face of unimaginable horror.

An iconic voice for a big moment

"Barbra Streisand is one of the most renowned artists in the world, and we are deeply honored to be working with her," said Claire Mundell, executive producer for Synchronicity Films, one of the companies behind the series, in a statement.

"Barbra and her team have crafted the most beautiful song, based on Hans’ and Kara’s main theme for the show, and it sums up the key message of the series - love will survive," she continued.

Mundell then recalled, "Recording the song with Barbra’s iconic vocals and William Ross conducting the LSO at Abbey Road Studios was an unforgettable moment and a memory I will treasure forever. We are thrilled to be able to honor the memory of Lali and Gita in this way, with this beautiful original piece of music."
