How "Bugs Bunny" saved Mel Blanc's life

While in a coma, Mel was initially unresponsive to the efforts of doctors and Noel himself when they tried to find signs of life.

"I'd say Dad, can you hear me? No," Noel Blanc recalled. After two weeks, the doctors eventually tried to reach him through reference to his popular Looney Tunes series - which they'd been playing on the TV set in his hospital room.
