Gibbs' story continues in Season 3 of 'NCIS: Origins', with another familiar face making a comeback. Emily Wickersham is set to reprise her role as Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop, appearing in several episodes of the series.

Her first appearance comes in the episode "Shimmy Shimmy Ya," airing in the U.S. on October 27. This marks Bishop's debut in the prequel series. Wickersham previously portrayed the character for eight seasons on 'NCIS' before leaving the show in 2021. She also made a guest appearance on the original series in March.

Emily Wickersham Returns as Ellie Bishop

The upcoming episode unfolds across two different timelines. In 1993, the team investigates a case involving a general's rebellious son, who becomes the target of a dangerous former gang member.

Meanwhile, in the present day, Gibbs returns to a familiar place filled with memories. This time, however, he isn't alone. Bishop joins him as they search for the mysterious attackers who attempted to kill him.

In a trailer released by CBS, Bishop tells Gibbs:"My whole life is off the books."

Tony DiNozzo Takes Over as NCIS Director

Bishop's return follows another highly anticipated reunion between Gibbs and Tony DiNozzo.

Michael Weatherly returned in Season 3, with his character now serving as the new director of NCIS. In the episode "Return of the Mack," Gibbs and DiNozzo reunited in their former office for the first time in a decade.

During their emotional meeting, the two discussed the attack on Gibbs and raised a toast to the late Leon Vance.

Showrunner David J. North explained the significance of the moment, telling TVLine: "I wanted to set things up so that Gibbs could tell Tony he's proud of him."

Mark Harmon Returns for a Present-Day Storyline

Mark Harmon is taking on an expanded role in Season 3. In addition to narrating the series, he will continue portraying the older Gibbs in a present-day storyline set in 2026.

The storyline follows the investigation into the attempt on Gibbs' life, with the mystery unfolding across multiple episodes.

North previously explained that Gibbs needed someone with extensive access and resources to help him uncover the truth. With DiNozzo now leading
