Queen Margrethe is back home following her most recent hospital stay. The Danish royal court announced on Thursday that the 86-year-old was discharged from Rigshospitalet that morning and is now at Fredensborg Palace. She is expected to rest there over the next few days.
Just a few days earlier, the former monarch had been forced to cancel a planned trip to Norway. She had originally been scheduled to travel to Oslo with King Frederik, Queen Mary, Crown Prince Christian, and Princess Benedikte to attend King Harald’s funeral.
Queen Margrethe Is Back at Fredensborg Palace
Regarding the former queen’s health, the palace stated: “Her Majesty Queen Margrethe was discharged from Rigshospitalet this morning and is now back at Fredensborg Palace,” according to the Danish court, as reported by Gala.
The royal family also announced that she is doing well and will be taking it easy for the time being. Her discharge followed several days of medical observation.
Treatment for a Blood Clot and Dehydration
Margrethe had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday. According to the Danish Royal House, a blood clot in the hip area and mild dehydration were diagnosed and treated. In a statement, Chief Communications Officer Nina Z. Munch-Perrin said the queen was in good spirits and doing well under the circumstances.
