Reality star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is opening up about a deeply personal health battle while continuing to balance family life, business, and filming. According to People Magazine, the 38-year-old has confirmed she will undergo a hysterectomy after being diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer. Polizzi said the diagnosis came after she delayed regular Pap smear screenings for more than a year, despite earlier abnormal results. Now, she is sharing what the process has been like and why she wants other women to pay closer attention to preventive care.

Nicole Polizzi Says Delayed Screenings Led to Diagnosis

For several years, Polizzi had been getting abnormal Pap smear results that showed precancerous cells. Her doctor recommended checkups every six months, but the exams were difficult enough that she started postponing them. That gap stretched to about a year and a half. When she finally returned, more testing followed, including a colposcopy and cone biopsy. The results showed severe cancer cells and confirmed stage 1 cervical cancer. Doctors later determined the cancer had not spread, and Polizzi said the planned surgery should mean she will not need additional treatment.

Polizzi did not hide her fear when discussing the procedure. “I'm not great with pain, so thinking about removing an organ is scary,” said Polizzi according to People Magazine. She also spoke about the personal weight of the operation, even though she has already finished having children with husband Jionni LaValle. “That's a part of being a woman and even though I'm done having kids, the thought of not being able to really upset me. It messes with you a little bit,” Polizzi told People Magazine. Her comments put a human focus on a medical decision that is also tied to identity and family.

Away from the doctor’s office, Polizzi is still managing a packed schedule. She lives in New Jersey with LaValle and their three children, while also running The Snooki Shop and preparing for the final season of 'Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.' Telling her children about the diagnosis was one of the hardest parts. Her older kids understood enough to be frightened, which added another layer to an already stressful period. Support from her husband, relatives, friends, and followers online has helped steady her as she prepares for the next step.

Nicole Polizzi Turns to Wellness Before Hysterectomy

As reported by People Magazine, Polizzi has started making health a bigger priority in everyday life. She said she is eating better, limiting alcohol, going to the gym, and staying in close contact with her doctor. The shift is practical, but it also reflects a broader reset. She wants to feel stronger going into surgery and more mindful about aging. Polizzi also said she hopes speaking publicly will push more women to stay current with screenings, stressing that cervical cancer is often preventable when warning signs are caught early.
