Otto has been part of the family for months, but his name had not been shared until now. According to Hello Magazine, he is one of four puppies born to Orla last May. The family has had Orla since 2020, after the death of their previous dog Lupo, an English cocker spaniel given to William and Kate by Kate’s brother James Middleton as a wedding present. With Orla now five and Otto newly introduced by name, the household has two spaniels with matching short names and a strong place in daily family life.

Princess Kate had already hinted at the new arrival during a public conversation in February, when she said: "We've got a little puppy, he's only eight months," according to Hello Magazine. At the time, she did not give his name. That brief comment now fits into a fuller picture, with Otto confirmed as the younger dog seen around the family in recent months. His first birthday post also follows a run of more personal family updates, offering a softer snapshot of life away from formal royal duties.
Anniversary Photo Included Both Family Dogs
Earlier this week, William and Kate shared a relaxed anniversary image to mark 15 years of marriage. The photo, taken by Matt Porteous in Cornwall during the Easter break, showed the couple lying in the grass with their children. Orla and Otto were both visible beside William, making the image one of the clearest family portraits to include the dogs. The setting was informal and warm, with the family barefoot in the sunshine.
