Prince Andrew is facing fresh scrutiny after a new royal biography detailed an alleged incident involving one of his dogs during a gathering at Sandringham. According to Hello Magazine, royal biographer Andrew Lownie writes in his forthcoming book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York that a guest challenged the duke after seeing him allegedly lash out at a Labrador during a pheasant shoot. The book is set for release on 21 May and adds another difficult chapter to the royal’s public story.

Andrew Lownie Details Sandringham Shoot Claim
Lownie describes a mid-morning break during the shoot, when guests gathered for hot soup and sausage rolls. In the account, a Labrador beside Andrew jumped up and took a sausage roll from a guest’s hand. The author alleges the prince then kicked the dog in the head, leaving the animal whimpering on the ground. The guest is said to have confronted him on the spot. "That is the most disgusting thing that you have just done to your beautiful dog. You should be ashamed of yourself!" the guest said according to Hello Magazine.
Prince Philip’s Reported Response to the Guest
The book also claims the exchange did not end there. Lownie alleges Andrew fired back angrily before other members of the party signaled support for the guest’s intervention. Later that evening, Prince Philip allegedly approached the same guest with a message from both himself and Queen Elizabeth II. "What you said to my son today was absolutely right and Her Majesty and I fully agree with what you said. Andrew needs a good scolding from time to time," Prince Philip said according to Hello Magazine. The claims have not been independently verified.
Queen Elizabeth II’s Corgis Moved With Andrew
After Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022, Andrew took in two of her corgis, Muick and Sandy. The dogs were moved to Royal Lodge before later being seen at Wood Farm Cottage on the Sandringham estate, where Andrew stayed after leaving his former home. Their presence kept attention on his role in caring for some of the late monarch’s best-loved pets. More recently, Andrew has moved into Marsh Farm, his permanent residence on the estate, where the dogs are believed to be living with him.
Marsh Farm Walk Led to Court Case
This month, Andrew was also involved in a separate incident while walking dogs near Marsh Farm. As reported by Hello Magazine, a man wearing a balaclava allegedly confronted and chased him close to his home on the Sandringham estate. Alex Jenkinson, 39, later appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 8 May and pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke violence. It has been reported that Andrew is prepared to give evidence at trial if required.
