In 2011, former Playmate Yvette Vickers was found dead at her home at the age of 82. Her body was already mummified. A neighbor noticed the woman's overflowing mailbox and gained access to the apartment. The coroner assumes that Vickers had already died a year earlier.

On June 28, 1967, the model's car, which had her, her boyfriend, the driver and her children, hit a semi truck at full speed. The car got under the truck. The entire upper part of the car was torn off. It has long been publicly believed that Mansfield's head was severed in the accident. However, this is not the case. Nevertheless, the Playmate suffered serious head injuries, and died.
