Alexander Skarsgård True Blood Star

Alexander Skarsgård True Blood star was born August 25th, 1976, in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the eldest son of critically acclaimed actor Stellan Skarsgård. Stellen is easily recognizable from his time on Good Will Hunting, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Mamma Mia!, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Chernobyl, and the Avenger's franchise.

Alexander had followed in his father's footsteps and began acting very young, along with 2 of his brothers Gustaf, Valter, and Bill who are also successful actors. For a short period of time in his youth, he was uncomfortable with being recognized so often so he took a break from acting for about 7 years and even served in the Swedish military.

When Alexander moved to Los Angeles in 2004, he landed a spot on the HBO series Generation Kill as "Sergeant Brad "Iceman" Colbert" where he worked with a dialect coach to perfect his American accent. While shooting for the series he heard about the show True Blood and realized he was a fan of the screenwriter behind the series so he sent in his audition tape. Originally, he auditioned to play "Bill Compton" but was instead cast as "Eric Northman", the gorgeous 1000-year-old vampire sheriff.
