The outlet mentions that according to the star's death certificate, "a cerebrovascular accident" is what ultimately caused her to pass away. The incident occurred on December 25, with White said to have been "alert and coherent" afterwards.
However, it does not seem as though White's agent, Jeff Witjas, was privy to this information before its release. Instead, he made a statement to Entertainment Tonight where he shared his own account of things. Witjas mentioned that he "was told that Betty passed in her sleep peacefully without pain," which he shared "brings me comfort as her dear friend."
