• Thomas Gibson is a famous actor
  • He starred in Criminal Minds for a few years
  • He was married to Christine Gibson and now they are divorced

Back in 1993, the Criminal Minds star Thomas Gibson started a new episode not precisely on-screen but in his own private life when he got married to Christine Gibson.

But after being together for almost 20 years they separated in 2011 and he filed for divorce in 2014. For some of us, it is hard to believe that a marriage can end after such a long time, but it seems that in this case, the couple made the right decision. But what exactly happened?

In 2013 the Dharma & Greg star fell victim to a Catfishing scheme after a woman claimed that she and Thomas had been in a relationship for two years.

Unfortunately for him, the woman even provided pictures and videos, but according to Gibson, those were false and edited. It could be said that was why his marriage with Christine started to fall down, but Thomas Gibson actually said that he and Christine were already separated at that time.

This is why Thomas Gibson divorced his wife Christine

In 2014 Thomas Gibson also known as "Aaron" in Criminal Minds decided to file for divorce from his wife of more than 20 years. In the filing, the 59-year-old actor said that he and Christine "ceased to live together as husband and wife… The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation."

Christine then responded with a general denial, but Gibson filed a counterpetition in 2015 and it was in February 2018 when the divorce was officially finalized. Thomas and Christine reached an agreement which sets that the actor would pay her 3,000 dollars a month in child support since they have two sons (James and Parker) and one daughter (Agatha.) According to TMZ, the actor is allowed to stay at the family's San Antonio home every other weekend when he has the kids.

Thomas Gibson kept his divorce from his wife a secret

The actor decided to keep his private life away from the public when his marriage was ending: "We spent a year and a half in mediation. We kept it private because divorce is hard enough on kids without having to deal with it publicly. Christine and I switch off staying with our kids at home in San Antonio. We did the best we could and continue to do the best we can as parents,” the actor said a little while ago, as reported by E! Online.
