• Ed Sheeran was a guest on 'Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend'
  • He opened up about smoking with Snoop Dogg
  • THIS is what he said

Just like for many other people, marijuana isn't Ed Sheeran's drug of choice, but when you're with Snoop Dogg, do you really have a choice? Known for being a clean cut act, many don't associate Sheeran with the party lifestyle. He has maintained a good boy image for most of his career. But in a new interview on the 'Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend' podcast, the "Bad Habits" singer-songwriter opened up about smoking weed with Snoop backstage after a concert — well, at least the parts he can remember.

The 32-year-old singer, who topped the UK Singles chart with “Eyes Closed,” a tribute to his friend, Jamal Edwards, who died in February 2022, told iconic interviewer Nardwuar about how a recent session with Snoop, 51, left him in a stupor.

Ed was having a crazy time

It all happened after Ed and his band performed a show in Australia. "I remember him meeting my mother-in-law, and he was like, ‘What’s up, queen?'," Ed said. Sheeran explained that he's become "quite close friends" with actor Russell Crowe, who happens to be tight with Snoop, and was in the room that night.

"They have smoke-offs and stuff," he said. "I don’t really smoke anymore, and I was in the dressing room with him,” said Sheeran in the interview. "He invited Russell Crowe, as well. I think they both love smoking weed together. I was like, ‘I know if I join in, my night’s over.’"

"I don’t really smoke at all," Ed confessed. But he couldn't help but want to get high with Snoop. "I was in the dressing room and they’re just blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt, and I’m like, I guess at some point during the night I have to, just to be like, ‘I smoked with Snoop Dogg.’"

Also interesting:

"He was like, ‘Do you want some?’ and I was like, ‘Now’s the time.’ We were having a good conversation," recalled Sheeran. Sheeran said he "had a long conversation first," speaking with the rap legend. Once he had that connection, it was time to light up. "I was like, ‘F—k it. When in Rome.’ And, uh, I couldn’t see [afterward]," Ed said.

"So I have a bit, and I was like, ‘I don’t feel too bad. This is good.’ Then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more," he continued. "I just remember looking at him and being like, 'I can’t see right now.'"

Who could pass that up?

Many famous rappers would have killed for the experience that the pop superstar had with Snoop. While it's not the experience Sheeran's used to, it's safe to say he wasn't let down: "I'd be disappointed if [Snoop] wasn't high," he joked.

Since then, he has other experiences with the ganja. He described a memorable studio experience with Burna Boy, which went down during the day before Sheeran was set to perform a show later that night. "It was very much the studio door is closed, and just — smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke," said Sheeran. "I remember walking on stage at the gig, and same thing, like, 'I’m not quite here.'"

Could we expect a reggae album from Ed Sheeran soon? Only time will tell...
