Sheeran said Sunday on official Instagram post that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and will do interviews and performances from his house while he self-isolates. The 30-year old broke the news just days before his new studio album is due to come out, and fans are hoping this doesn't affect its release!
"Quick note to tell you that I've sadly tested positive for Covid, so I'm now self-isolating and following government guidelines," Sheeran wrote on Instagram. "It means that I'm now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I'll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I've let down."
Ed Sheeran Tests Positive For Covid 19
So far, his condition seems normal, and sources around the singer seem to point out to the fact that he is in good spirits during his isolation period. Last week, Sheeran had been announced as the musical guest on NBC's Saturday Night Live for the November 6 taping, and producers will be scrambling to find a replacement quickly.
The four-time Grammy winner's new studio album is called =, which is pronounced Equals, and his appearance on SNL was part of the press tour for the album. From Sheeran's official media sources, there's no word yet on which performances he may be cancelling and which he will carry out from his home studio. His website, however, lists no live performances before April. Fans will have to wait for official word on when Ed will be back on the stage!
