The star-studded event, which also featured Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, and Zendaya, took an alarming turn when Pugh was struck in the face while posing for photos. The incident, caught on video and spread across social media, shows Pugh and her costars in shock as the actress recoils and clutches her face.

The crowd gasped as the beloved actress reached down to pick up the offending projectile.
Moments before the incident, Pugh shared her enthusiasm about joining the Dune cast, saying, "I had an amazing time... So it feels really, really special being here with the second one." Little did she know her special moment would be marred by a fan's reckless act.
The 27-year-old Oscar-nominated actress was hit in the right eye. The film is set to be released in March 2024 but this won't be forgotten any time soon. Pugh isn't the first to face such peril. Singer Ari Lennox recently confronted a fan for a similar offense, declaring her zero-tolerance for disrespect.
But this 2023 it's been a repeat case. The trend has seen various artists, including Bebe Rexha, Kelsea Ballerini, Harry Styles, and Taylor Swift, urging fans to keep the peace and respect the stage.
Fans were not happy about this at all.
"This could've been so much worse.. if this keeps going it'll get to the point where people won't want to do live events anymore for their own safety." The incident after the panel appearance is the latest in a recent trend of celebrities being targeted on stage.
Doctor Dr Lucy Bennett, a lecturer at Cardiff University who looks into the relationship between fans and their favorite singers, told the BBC in June people's attitudes may have changed since the Covid pandemic "where we couldn't be physically present at concerts".

Popstar Adele addressed the trend during a foul-mouthed rant at one of her concerts in July. She asked the audience: "Have you noticed how people are forgetting f****** show etiquette at the moment, they're just throwing s*** on stage. Have you seen that?"
"F****** dare you," she added. "Dare you to throw something at me." Her comments came after one fan bizarrely threw their mother's ashes on to the stage during a Pink concert.
"This trend of throwing things at performers while they are on stage must come to an end. (Bebe, Ava, AND NOW Kelsea Ballerini…)," singer Charlie Puth tweeted in July. "It’s so disrespectful and very dangerous."

This is just the latest in hopefully the last of a rather weird trend. After all, if you're going somewhere to see your favorite stars why would you try to hurt them?
