• Gayle King is Oprah's best friend
  • Cindy Crawford recently criticized Oprah
  • THIS was Gayle's response

Supermodel Cindy Crawford recently had some choice words for Oprah Winfrey and how she was treated on her show. The 'CBS This Morning' co-host reacted Cindy Crawford’s remarks in the new AppleTV+ docuseries 'The Super Models,' in which she criticized how Winfrey handled a past interview. Crawford recalls going on Winfrey’s talk show in 1986 when she was only 20 years old and feeling rather vulnerable.

"Did she always have this body?" questioned Winfrey, 69, after introducing the fashion icon. "Stand up just a moment." Once Crawford awkwardly stood up, Winfrey added: "Now this is what I call a BODY." And that experience really stuck with Cindy as she explained to the cameras.

Gayle is shocked and appalled

"I was like the chattel or a child, be seen and not heard," Crawford said. "When you look at it through today’s eyes, Oprah’s like, ‘Stand up and show me your body. Show us why you’re worthy of being here.’ In the moment I didn’t recognize it and watching it back I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that was so not okay really. Especially from Oprah.'"

Gayle's response came quick. While admitting that she has yet to watch the throwback footage, the journalist told Entertainment Tonight Thursday that she is "surprised and a little disappointed." Here is how she sees things: "I know Cindy’s been on her show many, many, many times and it has always been a pleasant experience, [so] I would hate to think that something that happened years ago [could have bothered her]. It’s not Oprah’s thing to humiliate or make anybody feel badly," she added.

Also interesting:

This comes after recent allegations of harassment and abuse on the set of Oprah's show, which have all been dismissed as nothing but rumors. Oprah herself has not yet commented on this. And it's unlikely that she will.

In today's society, perhaps Oprah's comments would be frowned upon. But back in the day, it wasn't considered taboo to publicly compliment a woman's body. Perhaps this is a learning moment for all future broadcasters!
