The actor is best known for portraying "Buzz McCallister" in both 'Home Alone' and 'Home Alone 2'. Buzz is the older brother of "Kevin McCallister," famously played by Macaulay Culkin. As you may know, Ratray has been accused of strangling his then-girlfriend on the bed in their hotel room in December 2021.

He is also accused of punching her in the face after she reportedly bit his hand in an attempt to get free.

Devin has a lot going on these days

Lights, Camera, Legal Drama! Devin Ratray, has found himself in a real-life plot twist! The star was recently admitted to a New York City hospital in what's been described as "critical condition," throwing a wrench into his ongoing domestic violence trial. Just when jury selection was set to commence in Oklahoma, Ratray's sudden medical emergency hit the pause button on the legal showdown, pushing the trial to February.

The nature of his condition? Mum's the word, as details remain as tight-lipped as a Hollywood NDA!

Less than two years ago, Ratray was entangled in a harrowing accusation of rape by a friend, Lisa Smith, dating back to 2017. Smith alleged that the actor drugged and sexually assaulted her in his Manhattan apartment, a claim that has since been vehemently denied by Ratray.

This bombshell accusation came to light amidst his investigation by New York authorities in 2023.

Rewind to December 2021, and Ratray was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. He was arrested on domestic violence charges after a reported altercation with his then-girlfriend at a Hyatt hotel in Oklahoma City. He was cited for allegedly attempting to strangle an unnamed partner.

Following the delay, jury selection will now begin in February.

The dispute? Autographs, alcohol, and alleged aggression. After a night of heavy drinking, the actor supposedly turned violent, attempting to strangle his girlfriend in a fit of rage.

Ratray’s girlfriend gave authorities a statement one day after the incident and claimed he "beat the crap out of her," per the police report. The actor’s rep subsequently told TMZ that the pair got into a verbal argument before breaking up and denied that the situation turned physical.

"Devin ... doesn't want to be known for something he did 30 years ago," she testified in court, according to a transcript. Adding, "It was (a) point of contention for him his whole life and it's something that I dealt with a lot when we were dating and that's why he'd never done these cons before because he didn't want to promote that he was in 'Home Alone.'"

She continued,  "He was annoyed to be there and be seen as 'Buzz' anyway."

The affidavit paints a grim picture of the evening, with the victim claiming Ratray choked her, covered her mouth, and punched her repeatedly, leading to his arrest on charges including felony domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

Also interesting:

Despite the serious allegations, Ratray has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty at his initial court appearance in February 2022. But with his trial on hold, the court of public opinion is in session, and all eyes are on what the next act will bring for the former child star.

It's unlikely that this case will not have any more chapters to report on. Stay tuned for more updates on this unfolding saga, as we bring you the latest from the intersection of celebrity and controversy!
