The second season of Amazon's psychological thriller web series Homecoming has a new star. Actress and musician Janelle Monáe will replace Academy Award-winner Julia Roberts, whose contract did not extend past the first season of the show but who will stay on as an executive producer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grammy Award-winner Janelle Monáe will play the role of a woman who suffers amnesia. The upcoming episodes will show how the character finds herself in a canoe without being able to remember how she got there.

Janelle Monáe and Homecoming's director are very happy to work together

Homecoming premiered last year in November and it was so acclaimed by audiences that it got three Golden Globe nominations. The director of the show Sam Esmail recently tweeted how excited he is about working with Janelle, who also reported to be honored.
