John Barrowman, Doctor Who and Torchwood's "Captain Jack Harkness", is well-remembered for playing the "Ninth Doctor's" companion on the hit BBC series. Born March 11, 1967 in Glasgow, Scotland, Barrowman would move to the United States when he was just eight years old.
Inspired by his high school acting days, Barrowman would go on to study at the United States International University before making his way to London's West End and Broadway.

John Barrowman on Doctor Who would start in 2005 when he was cast as "Captain Jack Harkness", a pansexual time traveler, in BBC's relaunch of the popular sci-fi series.
"Jack" may start off as timid, and it is unclear whether he is a good or bad force at first, but as the series developed "Jack" did as well and became close to the season's "Ninth Doctor" played by Christopher Eccelston.
Barrowman would also reprise his role as "Jack" in the Doctor Who spin-off series, Torchwood.

Today, John Barrowman continues to stay busy and has been hard at work on a number of book series. Written with his sister, Carole, Barrowman has published two young adult trilogies, Hollow Earth and The Orion Chronicles.
