John Boyega has been outspoken about taking a stand to speak out in support of Black Lives Matter! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Boyega revealed that several of his co-stars have come forward to say they're in his corner, including his Star Wars castmates Oscar Isaac and Daisy Ridley.

Boyega talks about close bond with Isaac and Ridley

Boyega said that Isaac and Ridley weren't surprised by his choice to make his voice heard at a London protest in June. "I am really close to my castmates, specifically Oscar and Daisy," he told Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier. "I have had really transparent and lovely conversations that I will never forget in my career, so we were already speaking about things."

"Me saying this was not a shock to them," Boyega continued, "but they did text me to say they support me." The actor also said that he's found support amongst others who are calling for change. "Many people in the industry have reached out to have these transparent conversations," he explained. "That has really, really helped."

Boyega felt using his voice "was just a good thing to do"

Boyega's impassioned speech at a protest ended up going viral online, and the actor explained why he thinks it caught people's attention! "I just feel like it probably hit a time where people can relate, and a lot of people in that position would've probably said the same thing," he said.

The actor also mentioned the fact that he's aware of the unique opportunity his platform afforded him. "It's always good to have someone that has a stage and a position to be able to speak from a very true perspective," he shared, "and it was an honor to be able to do that for you all."

"For me to be in that position, with those people marching, I'm just essentially one body in a massive group, but to have that influence to push their message, it was just a good thing to do," Boyega continued. "... Perhaps because I have now come out with this, for the next actor to be in that position, that is not going to be an alien conversation."

Boyega says he would be hesitant to rejoin Star Wars

Boyega also admitted that he's not sure if he would ever rejoin the Star Wars universe, where he became known for playing the character "Finn". Earlier this year, he also spoke out about his experience in the franchise, calling Disney out on their problematic handling of race in the recent trilogy. "I don't know what's going on with Star Wars," he said.

However, he's not completely ruling out the idea of a return to the galaxy far, far away! "I think while I'm alive, that's one thing, but it would just depend on story and it would depend whether Daisy and Oscar are coming back," Boyega explained. "I wouldn't wanna be running around by myself or anything."

As Entertainment Tonight mentions, Boyega appears in an upcoming episode of anthology film series Small Axe, playing Black police officer "Leroy Logan". The actor said the project was "so important" to him because of the power of storytelling. "I just think it's very, very important in this process," Boyega said, "as we decide what we're fighting for or what we support, how we morally approach these kind of scenarios that we're seeing in the world today."
