  • Sad words

John Travolta (70) has had to cope with a few strokes of fate in his life. The actor not only lost his eldest son Jett (†16) in 2009, but in 2020 his wife Kelly Preston (†57) also died of cancer. The actor spoke to the Spanish magazine 'Esquire' about this loss.

John Travolta: Speaks openly about the death of his wife

In the interview, John Travolta openly talks about his grief, saying it was more important for him to deal with his grief alone. "I learned that mourning someone, living in grief, is very personal," Travolta said. "Grief is personal and finding your own path is what could lead to healing. It's different than someone else's journey"

Very sad:

So the actor himself would apparently have had to be a support for others during his grief, which prevented him from coping with his own grief: "although it's nice to have company, sometimes it turns you into someone helping the other person instead of putting in the work of overcoming the sense of loss and grief."

John Travolta also wants to give mourners something to take with them through this interview: "The first thing you should do while going through grief is go somewhere where you can truly mourn, with no interruptions."

According to Travolta, otherwise, you would also go under: "Like, imagine if you lose someone and you're very sad at the funeral, and another person comes up to you who is feeling even sadder and then doesn't leave space for you to feel your grief. It becomes two ships plummeting to the bottom together. That's my experience," he concluded.
