Keke Palmer has opened up about what the 2020 MTV VMAs will look like in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic! In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Palmer said that while the show will "look different than you've ever seen it before," it will still be an exciting night full of surprises!

Palmer says the audience will still be involved

Palmer said that despite the safety measures that are in place, they're still putting together a fun show! "We're getting as creative as we can, trying to make sure we can incorporate our awesome audience that the MTV VMAs usually always has," she told Entertainment Tonight's Rachel Smith, "but within a way that's safe for everyone. So expect a cool surprise there."

"Then throughout [the show] we're figuring out all different ways that we can keep the excitement and the surprises going," Palmer continued. "Add elements to the show that people are going to be excited about and not feel, like, bummed or that the show is any different."

Palmer on hosting VMAs: "you're gonna get all Keke"

Palmer was announced as host of the 2020 MTV VMAs earlier this month, and is definitely looking forward to the gig! "I'm so excited," she enthused. "You're gonna see me, I think, a lot during the show, so I'm very excited to have fun ... you're gonna get all Keke. All what you see of Keke on IG, you're gonna be getting that during the show."

She told Entertainment Tonight that she'll be "running all through the boroughs" of New York City so that music fans can have "one night of fun," and shared what she wants people to get from this year's VMAs. "To escape, but also coming together," she explained. "I think that's the big theme of the night when we think about it."

"Our whole mind has been going to, 'We're healing each other,'" Palmer went on to say. "We're dealing with a lot, there's been a lot going on, so this is a time where we're coming together and we're letting the music bring us together."

The 2020 MTV VMAs will take place on Sunday, August 30. With many exciting nominees and performers— including Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, BTS, and Miley Cyrus— there's no doubt that the awards show will be a fun night of escapism!
