Mark Harmon Got The Sports Gene

He excelled in sports and played football for UCLA. Mark received some offers and interest by the pros, but he turned them down to focus on his studies and get a degree in communications.

Mark Harmon had his run with some very unsuccessful roles before he was cast in NCIS. For example, Emergency!, Sam, 240-Robert, Flamingo Road, Reasonable Doubts and Charlie Grace are a few of the more unsuccessful roles he took on.

Harmon decided to stray away from becoming a movie star so he didn't have to miss out on all the moments with his family and children growing up. How sweet is that!

Mark Harmon starred in the 1987 comedy Summer School and he almost talked himself out of the role! He told comedy legend Carl Reiner that he was not funny enough for the role and that they should cast Tom Hanks! It's a good thing Carl Reiner knows what he's doing!

He smashed a window and pulled out Colin only to get on top of him and smother out the flames. Colin was badly burned, but ultimately made a full recovery thanks to our real-life hero Mark!

Harmon ultimately got his boss and NCIS commander Donald P. Bellisario fired after stating that he couldn't work under Bellisario's chaotic management style.
