Martha Stewart didn't expect her fans to freak out over her poolside selfie, many of them dubbing it a "thirst trap"! Now, Stewart has exclusively opened up to Entertainment Tonight about why she took the photo to begin with.

Stewart on pool selfie: "I just thought I looked great"

Stewart first admitted that she didn't know what a "thirst trap" was! When Entertainment Tonight's Nischelle Turner informed her of the definition though, Stewart was in agreement. "That's definitely a thirst trap," she said of the photo.

"I just thought I looked great coming out of the pool," Stewart commented, explaining what led to the photo. "My camera came on backwards, you know, selfie mode, and I looked so nice. The sun was on my face. I thought, 'Oh, that looks pretty,' so I took the picture. It looked good."

Stewart's "thirst trap" selfie emulated by Chelsea Handler

Stewart's pool selfie was recreated by comedian Chelsea Handler, who shared her own version of the photo on Instagram. "Dear Chelsea, I’m so happy that you like my post well enough to emulate it,” Stewart commented to Handler. "I do think my pool is a little bit prettier than yours and that my facial expression is a little bit more relaxed."

"Nevertheless you are a beautiful girl and F**KING too young to be emulating me," she continued on. "Continue with your comedy, your humor, and your amazing ability to gather around you political liberals. We need it! Love Martha."

Stewart reveals plans to smoke a joint with Handler

Stewart then told Entertainment Tonight that she's accepted Handler's offer to partake in a particular activity together! "I just took up Chelsea Handler's challenge to smoke a joint with her," Stewart said.

"I told her I haven't smoked a joint since the 1960s. So for me to smoke a joint is a really big deal. We haven't done it yet ... it has to be together, some time in the future."

Stewart credits vitality to lifestyle and CBD skincare

Stewart also talked about how she manages to look so good at 78 years old! "Just eat well, exercise well, garden, climb mountains," she shared. "I climbed Kilimanjaro. For goodness sake, I went up into the Himalayas. You have to do that kind of stuff. That's the kind of stuff that keeps one vibrant and young and it's important."

She also opened up to Entertainment Tonight about her upcoming line of CBD skincare. "It's called 86 Elm, and this is exclusive to you. I haven't told anybody yet," Stewart revealed. "I've been using that for the last six months, and I really think it has helped make my skin even more lustrous and good."

Stewart's HGTV show Martha Knows Best to debut this week

Stewart has also been spending time showing off her home renovations as part of her new HGTV show Martha Knows Best, which premieres on Friday. The show also sees Stewart giving renovation advice to celebrities such as Hailey Bieber, Lupita Nyong'o, and Richard Gere.

"I remember when Ellen [DeGeneres] called and she wanted to see the farm," Stewart said. "There's a lot of celebrities living in this neighborhood. Blake [Lively] and Ryan [Reynolds] live down the road, and they've been over."

Stewart name drops celebrity friends around the area

Stewart went on to talk about even more famous friends who live nearby! "Bruce Willis just moved from this area, but he was here for a long time. I like him so much. He's a really great guy," she continued. "And Michael Douglas and his wife [Catherine Zeta-Jones], they live nearby. ... Oh the best, Emily Blunt and her husband John [Krasinski], they've been over."

She also mentioned that the advice she'll be dishing out on her show is honest, and that she herself sometimes uses a few choice words. "After 118 dinners and five months of COVID quarantine, you can say anything you damn well please," Stewart told Entertainment Tonight.
