The basketball legend Kobe Bryant died at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash this Sunday, in Calabasas, California, along with eight other people, including his daughter Gianna, who was 13 years old. Kobe Bryant was not only a very talented basketball player, but also an amazing husband and father; in fact, he decided to start using helicopters in order to spend more time with his daughters.
Kobe Bryant began relying on helicopters so he would spend more time with his daughters
In 2018, during an interview with Alex Rodriguez for Barstool Sports podcast The Corp with A-Rod and Big Cat, Kobe Bryant revealed he began relying on helicopters to travel around the Los Angeles area, so he would have time to be with his family.
Kobe Bryant tried to find a way where he could train and not compromise family time
Kobe Bryant explained he would spend a lot of time in traffic, making it impossible to drop off and pick up his daughters Natalia, 17, Gianna, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7 months- from school. His wife Vanessa told him she would pick up their children from school, but that was something he really wanted to do.
This is what Kobe Bryant said:
"I was sitting in traffic and I wound up missing like a school play, because I was sitting in traffic. I had to figure out a way where I could still train and focus on the craft but still not compromise family time. So that’s when I looked into helicopters, to be able to get down and back in 15 minutes and that’s when it started."
Kobe Bryant will always have a special place in our hearts
The basketball legend played his entire 20-season career in the National Basketball Association with the Los Angeles Lakers. He entered the NBA directly from high school and won five NBA championships.
He will always have a special place in our hearts and our thoughts are with his wife Vanessa and his family at this time.
