This week, legendary British singer and songwriter Elton John announced that he has contracted the coronavirus, and will need to isolate for the time being. The 74-year-old music icon is fully vaccinated and only experiencing mild symptoms according to reports, but has been forced to cancel two upcoming and much-anticipated concerts in Dallas, Texas.

A statement issued on behalf of the "Rocket Man" singer said: "It is with great regret that the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour dates in Dallas set for Tuesday, January 25 and Wednesday, January 26 must be postponed due to Elton recently testing positive for COVID-19."

The news comes after many protests worldwide against coronavirus restrictions have taken place, with many countries pushing the third booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. But critics have been quick to point out high-profile stories, like Elton John's, of those who are fully vaccinated still contracting the disease and needing to isolate. Nevertheless, the show must go on, just not yet!

The statement went on to read: "Fortunately, Elton is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is experiencing only mild symptoms. Fans should hold on to their tickets as they will be honored at the rescheduled dates to be announced soon."

Elton's farewell tour was originally postponed all the way back in March 2020 due to the start of the pandemic, but the singer is determined to see the dates through as soon as he can and fulfill all of his fans' wishes to see him perform live. Although his health has been a concern in recent years, Elton John seems more eager than ever to bring his talent to the stage!

And so, it won't be long before Elton John is back doing what he does best: entertaining millions around the world! But for now, it's to get some rest and mend up.
