Raven-Symoné started her professional career as a child model and made her major breakthrough when she was only three years old after being cast as "Olivia Kendall" in The Cosby Show. Now the 33-year-old actress has opened up about how being a part of The View helped her grow up.
Raven explained the most important part of appearing on the American talk-show was the fact of being able to make a quick transition into adulthood. "My version of doing it -- I wanted it to be about my mind and I wanted it to be about my opinions," she said in regards to co-hosting the television show from 2015 to 2016, as reported by ET Online.
Raven-Symoné wanted to grow up on her own terms
Raven-Symoné, also known for appearing in That's So Raven, took a three-year break when she was 23, after years of feeling that all she knew was "how to recite words that other people wrote in the emotion that I thought I was supposed to have." She just wanted to have normal conversations with normal people and joke about everyday life.
Expressing her own opinions and not only being "the little girl" who was supposed to entertain audiences was very important to Raven. That's why she decided to star in shows where she could be able to share her very personal thoughts, and therefore, grow up on her own terms. "That's what The View was for me -- to make sure that I knew that I had a brain as well and that I'm an adult now," she said.
What is Raven-Symoné doing now?
The fabulous actress is currently reprising her role as "Raven Baxter" on the spinoff, Raven’s Home. She recently starred in the 2019 television shows Just Roll With It, and The Masked Singer, as well as in the 2017 film Animal Crackers.
