At the 2019 People's Choice Awards, Robert Downey Jr. took the stage to accept the award for male movie star of 2019. While accepting the award, Downey Jr. paid tribute to the "late, great" US comic book writing legend Stan Lee.

Lee, who died at age 95 on November 12th, 2018, was responsible for the creation of many beloved characters in the vast Marvel comic universe. This includes the "Iron Man" character, which Downey Jr. famously portrayed from 2008 until 2019.
