In addition to his notable films, his romantic life has also been the headlines of countless newspapers and tabloid articles. He famously had a sporadic affair with Sandra Bullock and his stormy relationship with Rachel McAdams, the woman he gave his heart to in The Notebook (2004).

Eva Mendes, the drop-dead gorgeous Cuban actress who conquered the hearts of millions of viewers in the films Training Day (2001), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), Hitch (2005), and the Spirit (2008). 

Before splitting in 2010, the bombshell was in a long term relationship with director George Augusto, whom she met in 2002.

The paths of Gosling and Mendes first crossed in mid-2011 during the production of the critically acclaimed film The Place Beyond The Pines. This was the long-awaited return of director Derek Cianfrance who had previously worked with Ryan Gosling on Blue Valentine (2010).

In the film, Ryan Gosling plays "Luke Glanton," a stunt rider at a traveling fair who reunites with his ex-girlfriend "Romina Gutierrez" (Eva Mendes) who lets him know the two had become parents the year before.

Although Ryan's character's story only takes place in part of the film, the contact he had with Mendes and their immediate chemistry on screen was enough for the two to begin a romance. Of course, as both are high profile celebrities, they embarked on a relationship with the greatest possible secrecy.

When the film was about to be released, the rumor that there was a romantic relationship between the two began to get stronger.

In 2012, when the film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, Mendes and Gosling gave the press one of the few opportunities they would have to capture them together.

Keeping their relationship a secret has been one of the characteristics that have allowed two of the sexiest actors in Hollywood to live together as a happy family.

Eva Mendes has decided not to accompany Gosling to the countless awards ceremonies he has been nominated for in the last five years and avoided stealing the spotlight during his 2014 directorial debut of Lost River where Eva had one of her last appearances on the big screen.

In recent years, now that Mendes has taken a break from acting to raise their young daughters, the couple is rarely seen out together.
