Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively regret their choice of wedding venue to this day since it happened to be a former plantation. As People shares, Reynolds opened up in a new interview with Fast Company about his feelings on the event.

Reynolds explains why he married Lively on plantation

Reynolds shared that the locale of his and Lively's wedding doesn't sit well with either of them. "It’s something we’ll always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for. It’s impossible to reconcile," he said of their decision. "What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy. Years ago we got married again at home — but shame works in weird ways."

"A giant f—king mistake like that can either cause you to shut down or it can reframe things and move you into action," the Deadpool actor continued. "It doesn’t mean you won’t f--- up again. But re-patterning and challenging lifelong social conditioning is a job that doesn’t end." As People mentions, Reynolds and Lively got married at Boone Hall in South Carolina in 2012, a site that was once a slave plantation.

Reynolds and Lively share Black Lives Matter statement

Reynolds and Lively have also spoken out about the Black Lives Matter movement on social media, making a substantial donation. "Last week we contributed $200,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund," they said in a joint Instagram post. "We stand in awe of this organization and its leader, Sherrilyn Ifill. And this is just a start. We also pledge to stay educated and vote in every local election."

"We want to know the positions of school board nominees, sheriffs, mayors, councilpersons. We want to know their positions on justice," the couple continued. "But mainly, we want to use our privilege and platform to be an ally. And to play a part in easing pain for do many who feels as though this grand experiment is failing them."

Reynolds and Lively have also used the photo sharing social media platform for much less serious posts. The two have been involved in some lighthearted online trolling, joking with one another on Instagram during quarantine!
