Born on March 9th, 1980 in Las Vegas, Matthew Gray Gubler is the son of Marilyn Kelch, a rancher and political consultant and John Gubler, an attorney. 

Gubler studied acting at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts because the school didn’t offer his first choice, filmmaking. Matthew majored in film directing at New York University Tisch School of Arts and during this time, he was discovered as a model.
