One topic she addressed directly was Donald Trump. Asked how she felt following his election victory, Klum made her stance clear in an interview with Zeit Magazin.

“I think it’s important to have learned something in a job like this, where you make decisions affecting so many people,” she explained, emphasizing that leadership should be rooted in experience and expertise.

Klum also pointed to Germany’s political system as a contrast, where she believes top government positions are typically earned through years of political work and preparation.

The supermodel went even further with a striking comparison. “It’s like a doctor who has to study for years before opening your head and operating on your brain,” Klum said, suggesting that political leadership should require a similar level of qualification and responsibility.

Still, she admitted Trump’s rise in the United States did not entirely shock her, noting that America has a long history of electing celebrities and entertainers into high office. In Germany, however, she believes expectations remain very different, citing Angela Merkel as an example of a leader who spent decades building political experience before becoming chancellor.

Klum’s connection to Trump dates back years. The two first met while filming the movie 54, originally known as Studio 54. “After that, we kept running into each other at events,” she recalled.

She even attended the wedding of Donald and Melania Trump Trump. At the time, Klum’s then-husband, hairstylist Ric Pipino, was responsible for Melania’s wedding hair. Looking back, Klum described Trump during that era as simply “Donald — a funny guy everyone knew in New York.”

The interview also touched on Harvey Weinstein, who worked within her professional orbit for years as a producer on Project Runway. Klum admitted the allegations against him deeply shocked her.

She revealed that throughout her career she consciously avoided situations she considered inappropriate or risky, preferring professional daytime meetings in offices rather than private parties or late-night gatherings. Looking back, Klum says she is proud of the boundaries she set and the career she built on her own terms.
