Taraji P. Henson plans to use Facebook as a platform for good when it comes to her latest venture! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Henson is set to host a brand-new virtual talk show on Facebook Watch— tentatively called Peace of Mind With Taraji— that focuses on the importance of mental health.

Henson says mental health is an issue "near and dear" to her

Henson's show is going into production later this year, and she'll be co-hosting it with Tracie Jade Jenkins, who she's been friends with for some time! According to Entertainment Tonight, the official press release for Peace of Mind With Taraji says the program intends to "shine a spotlight on the challenging mental health issues facing us today – particularly of those in the Black community" through interviews with both celebs and regular people.

Henson made a statement herself about the project, talking about its significance to her. "I’ve long been a mental health advocate for the Black community and created the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in 2018 that has provided resources to thousands of people who are struggling," she said. "I’m looking forward to bringing this new talk series to Facebook Watch, where I can continue to create conversation around an issue that is near and dear to my heart."

Henson's announcement comes prior to World Mental Health Day

Henson's announcement of her new project has come at the perfect time, which is no coincidence. That's because as Entertainment Tonight mentions, it coincides with Facebook's initiative to promote mental health awareness prior to World Mental Health Day, which is on Saturday, October 10.

This isn't the first time that Henson has opened up about the topic either! Back in May, the actress became emotional while talking about mental health and the Black community in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic during a televised CNN town hall. We're looking forward to seeing what comes of Henson's new project, and glad she's helping bring such an important topic to the forefront of conversation!
