Ian Holm (†88) has gone down in film history above all as "Bilbo Baggins" from 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit'.
Ian Holm suffered from illness for a long time
The actor died on June 19, 2020 at the age of 88. His cause of death was Parkinson's disease, according to 'The Guardian'. According to a statement, Holm died surrounded by his family in a hospital in London.
He is said to have suffered from the insidious disease for a few years. However, Holm's medical history goes back decades. In 2002, he declared that he had prostate cancer, as 'Standard' reported at the time.
However, he seemed to have beaten the cancer, as he was able to celebrate great success in the years that followed. Ian Holm is survived by his fourth wife Sophie de Stempel, his five children and grandchildren. He is greatly missed.
