Tom Holland appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week to promote his new movie Spies in Disguise and shared an anecdote about his famous character "Spider-Man", whose future in the MCU was actually uncertain at one point earlier in the year.
The actor said he was "obviously devastated" following the news that "Spider-Man" would be exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland shared that he asked for Disney CEO Bob Iger’s email to thank him for the opportunity, which led to the drunken phone call.

The actor revealed he "wept" to Iger over his character’s departure due to the studio's disagreement. Disney and Sony eventually agreed to share the character for a third MCU film, which has been set for release on July 16, 2021.
