Unique Lena Dunham was born May 13th, 1986 to an artsy family of painters and photographers in New York City. She grew up with Jewish-Protestant mixed parents who were very encouraging of her talents. As a young teenager, she once won a Scholastic Art and Writing Award that had been granted to greats like Andy Warhol, Richard Linklater, Ken Burns and Stephen King. Lena graduated in 2008 from Oberlin College with a degree in creative writing and set off into the world.

Dunham started her career by creating short YouTube films and had a few mildly successful web series' like Delusional Downtown Divas which eventually led her to her breakthrough in Hollywood with the film Tiny Furniture. The somewhat biographical feature film Tiny Furniture won her Best Narrative Feature at South by Southwest and multiple screenings at reputable film festivals.

With the great reception, she earned a spot with HBO for her 2012 series Girls. Girls was a ground-breaking show centered around her character loosely based on herself facing struggles that countless Millennials are thrown into.
