As a child, Melissa Gilbert rose to fame in the role of "Laura Ingalls" on Little House on the Prairie. Now in her fifties, married for the third time and living on a farm, Gilbert has released a new book called Back to the Prairie: A Home Remade, A Life Rediscovered.

Gilbert also addresses her marriage to Bruce Boxleitner in the book. The Little House on the Prairie star was married to her second husband from 1995 to 2011, but the separation plunged her into a midlife crisis. Gilbert then turned to beauty treatments, which transformed her look dramatically.

“I had Botox, fillers, recolored my hair, and bought a Mustang convertible at the urging of the inappropriately young French dude I began dating,” she shared. "I reacted as many women I encountered did: I attempted to freeze everything in place."

Only an accident in 2012 was able to get her out of this hole. "[…] Your face doesn't move. Your boobs are too big. You're with the wrong guy. The list went on,” she explained, sharing her thoughts at the time. Thankfully, Gilbert managed to break out of this cycle, and today, she is happily married to her husband Timothy Busfield.
