Harry and Meghan have been staying out on Vancouver Island in Canada since they announced their royal exit in January. Now, it has been announced that the Canadian government will stop covering their security costs when they officially step back from royal duties on March 31st, 2020.

Canada will stop paying for Harry and Meghan's security 

Canada has bee providing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) security since November and now Public Safety Canada has confirmed that they will cease to contribute those costs "in the coming weeks." 

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex choosing to relocate to Canada on a part-time basis presented our government with a unique and unprecedented set of circumstances. The RCMP has been engaged with officials in the U.K. from the very beginning regarding security considerations. As the Duke and Duchess are currently recognized as Internationally Protected Persons, Canada has an obligation to provide security assistance on an as-needed basis," Public Safety Minister Bill Blair stated.

ROYAL NEWS: Prince Harry asked to just go by Harry from now on... 

It is unsure at this time what Harry and Meghan will do in terms of security once they have officially exited the Royal Family on March 31st.
