Over the weekend, Princess Kate (42) surprised everyone with a new picture showing her and her children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5).

The photo has been widely discussed by fans of the British royal family, as it is the first sign of life from Kate since her abdominal surgery in January 2024.

New photo of Kate: body language expert explains emotions

Now body language expert Judi James has spoken out and analyzed the family photo. The picture shows "the pose itself, the styling and the colours chosen, look deliberately traditional and even signature for the family," she explains to 'The Mirror'.

"Their open-mouthed laughs look congruent enough to imply genuine playfulness that appears prompted by William from behind the lens," she continued.

Kate also looks happy. Judi James said, "Kate might be sitting but she's the one with her protective arms around her two younger children and Kate's smile is far more telling than her normal signature, pitch-perfect '"royal" smile."

Expert explains: How to recognize Kate's true feelings

Judi James also explains that there is always a lot to recognize about Princess Kate's eyes. "Her sparkling eye expression, which is aimed at her husband William behind the camera, suggests their usual levels of shared humour are still very much a thing."

Incidentally, the photo was taken by Prince William. Kate usually takes on this task and shoots the photos of her loved ones.
