The Queen has on her mind all who are affected by the Beirut explosion.

On Wednesday, Her Majesty released a statement of condolence to those who lost loved ones and who may now face uncertain living situations in the aftermath of the deadly explosion. Here's what she had to say.

The Queen's statement on the Beirut explosion

Queen Elizabeth II's personal message was released through the Royal Family's social media pages on Wednesday. It was addressed to Michel Aoun, President of The Republic of Lebanon.

"Prince Philip and I were deeply saddened by news of the explosion at the Port in Beirut yesterday," the Queen wrote.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who have been injured or lost their lives, and all those whose homes and livelihoods have been affected," the message concluded, with Her Majesty signing off as "Elizabeth R."

Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip react to Lebanon tragedy

The Queen and Prince Philip would have learned of the news after arriving at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. They relocated to their usual summer residence on Tuesday after having been in lockdown at Windsor Castle going back to March. They'll now remain at Balmoral until at least October.

According to CNN, at least 135 people are confirmed to have been killed in the Aug. 4 explosion in the Lebanese capital. Another 5,000 were injured amid the vast destruction caused by the blast. The nature of the explosion and precise numbers of victims are still under investigation. But with hundreds missing, it's feared that the casualty number will grow.

If you would like to help victims and the recovery effort, the New York Times has listed the Lebanese Red Cross, Impact Lebanon, and Baytna Baytak as groups to support.
