The Queen is missing all the action at Royal Ascot this year, just like so many others, because of the COVID-19 crisis and the government guidelines that come with it. Her Majesty is - and has always been - a real enthusiast for everything connected with horses, which is why this is a bitter pill to swallow especially for her.
But while she will be absent from the race meeting this year, she still managed to sent her best wishes to all organisers, professionals and enthusiasts in form of of the introduction to the race cards.
Queen Elizabeth: "This year Ascot will feel different for many"
The Queen wrote: "I send my best wishes to the thousands of racing professionals and enthusiasts who will join me in celebrating this year's Royal Ascot. In these challenging times, we are once again delighted to welcome the best horses and jockeys from across the world and pay tribute to those who have helped make this race meeting possible."
She continues: "This year Ascot will feel different for many as it is so often a chance for friends, families and colleagues to gather together and enjoy a shared passion. I am sure however, that with the valiant efforts of the organisers, owners, trainers and stable staff, it will remain one of Britain's finest sporting occasions and a highlight of the racing calendar.

It is definitely tough for Her Majesty to face the fact that she won't be able to attend this year, but it sounds like she will be watching on TV, like so many others: "To everyone attending Royal Ascot, in person or virtually, I hope you have a most enjoyable and unique week of racing."
