The royal family is known for their extravagant level of fashion and design, almost always opting for outfits that are very striking but in keeping with the event, and in this case, a wedding calls for being the center of attention, but with subdued colors.
Types of dresses
Although there are several types (mainly six), the royal family usually goes for two of these, which are the gala and princess types. Usually these dresses are also accompanied by long sleeves, but it is not unusual to see some short or hybrid designs.
Princess Diana's, for example, was a dress that could be considered to have short sleeves, but its design made it appear as if it did not show much of her arms.
