Daniel Dae Kim and Randall Park will pay homage to classic heist films in their new project with Amazon.

The two popular actors are confirmed as the stars of the untitled heist movie, which will have an Asian American ensemble cast. Amazon Studios landed the rights to produce and exhibit the project after a bidding war with other streamers and studios.

In Deadline's announcement of the project, Kim told the outlet that the film has "nods to Ocean’s 11, The Full Monty as well as Better Luck Tomorrow," indicating a love of the traditional heist-genre classics.

Screenwriter Young Il Kim will pen the script based on a story by Kim, Park, and 3AD's John Cheng. "It's a story that kind of highlights community, friendship, unity in a very familiar genre that people I think will enjoy," Kim shared with Deadline.

The new film is a project of former co-stars and longtime friends, too. Kim and Park recently appeared as opposite love interests to Ali Wong in Netflix's Always Be My Maybe. For the stars, it's a passion project, which Kim says will "bring together talented actors who have been friends for a really long time and really have fun on a project."

"We want to be inclusive and we feel like there's a story here to be told. It's super exciting," Kim added.

Both actors have many film and TV credits, but Kim is best known for his work on Hawaii Five-0 and Lost, while Park has had most exposure to fans on ABC's Fresh Off the Boat. Their new film will follow successful Asian American creative works such as Crazy Rich Asians and streamer hits Tigertail and Kim and Park's Always Be My Maybe.
