Rumors about a film continuation of the 2008 series Breaking Bad began to circulate in 2018 and only a couple of days ago Netflix surprised fans not only by confirming that a sequel film called El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is actually on production, but also by sharing a teaser trailer which is already making fans wonder about possible storylines.
What do we know so far about El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie?
When? It's been a while since we last saw the series which air from 2008 to 2013 with a total of 5 seasons, but it seems that we will only have to wait a couple of weeks more to finally know what happens next; El Camino is set to premiere on October 11th 2019 on Netflix!
Who? As showed in the teaser trailer, Charles Baker is one of the Breaking Bad stars that is returning; he will reprise his role as "Skinny Pete," and apart from him Aaron Paul is the only one confirmed as part of the cast reprising his role as "Jesse Pinkman."
El Camino is directed and written by Vince Gilligan, the creator of the original series, who reportedly contacted Aaron around 2017 and hinted about doing "something big." Melissa Bernstein, Charles Newirth, Mark Johnson, Diane Mercer, and Aaron Paul, are taking over the direction in association with Sony Pictures Television.
What? The sequel film will pick up from the last time we saw "Jesse Pinkman" driving off into the night in the titular "El Camino", in the wake of his escape from captivity and forced labor at the hands of a white supremacist drug syndicate by the iconic "Walter White".
More details about El Camino are still a mystery...
Although Bryan Cranston who portrays "Walter White" once stated that he would be interested in appearing in the film, he has not been confirmed as a cast member, but we would certainly love to see him in a flashback or a dream sequence, because let's not forget the fact that he was killed at the end of the series back in 2013.
We definitely expect Netflix to reveal more information about the Breaking Bad movie soon, but we would also like it if some storylines details are kept secret in order to surprise us!
