Lin-Manuel Miranda's latest tweet has certainly generated a lot of excitement across the internet today. That's because the creator and original star of historical hip-hop musical Hamilton announced that Disney is bringing the hit show to movie theatres next fall... with the original cast!

Instead of filming a new cinematic version of the show, according to Miranda's tweet, the version of Hamilton audiences will be seeing is a professionally filmed one, recorded during the show's Broadway run at the Richard Rodgers theatre!

Hamilton is finally heading for the big screen next fall

Musical theatre fans have long been in anticipation of this announcement, especially those who are unable to see a live production of the show. A filmed version of Hamilton was said to have been in the works for some time, with speculation swirling around what exactly that would look like and if the musical's original cast would be involved.

"I’m so proud of what [director] Tommy Kail has been able to capture in this filmed version of Hamilton -- a live theatrical experience that feels just as immediate in your local movie theater," Miranda said in an official press statement.

"We’re excited to partner with Disney to bring the original Broadway company of Hamilton to the largest audience possible".

Now, thanks to Disney (and Miranda's tweet!) we know that everyone will have a chance to be "in the room where it happens" next October!
